About The Role

Role Overview

The GMP Cleaning Supervisor is responsible for the effective management and execution of all cleaning activities within GMP-regulated areas, ensuring compliance with GMP, site SOPs, and regulatory standards. This position requires strong leadership skills, experience in handling deviations, reviewing SOPs, managing payroll and overtime, conducting audits, and supporting change controls. The Supervisor will work closely with Operations, Quality Assurance, Quality Control and other departments to align cleaning processes with production schedules and compliance requirements.

 

Key Responsibilities

The following tasks outline the primary duties of the GMP Cleaning Supervisor but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and manage the GMP Cleaning Team, ensuring compliance with site policies and GMP guidelines.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee weekly, monthly, quarterly, and bi-annual cleaning activities in GMP areas.
  • Conduct walk-throughs to monitor cleaning performance, ensure adherence to SOPs, and address any deficiencies.
  • Ensure all gowning rooms are stocked before, during, and after production.
  • Liaise with Operations and QA for unplanned area shutdowns and adjustments to cleaning schedules.
  • Manage staff schedules, shift rotations, and overtime assignments to maintain adequate coverage.
  • Conduct daily briefings to communicate tasks, room availability, and production support needs.
  • Provide training and mentorship to team members, ensuring understanding of GMP principles, SOPs, and safety guidelines.
  • Track and manage training requirements for all GMP cleaning staff.
  • Review, approve, and process bi-weekly payroll, including overtime tracking and corrections.
  • Conduct audits of completed cleaning tasks and ensure documentation is accurate and compliant.
  • Review cleaning logbooks.
  • Raise, investigate, and manage deviations, ensuring CAPAs are implemented.
  • Support SOP revisions and updates, ensuring cleaning procedures align with regulatory and operational requirements.
  • Participate in change control processes, providing input on the impact of changes to cleaning procedures.
  • Conduct internal and external audits to ensure compliance with site and regulatory standards.
  • Ensure proper waste segregation, labelling, and disposal in accordance with hazardous and biohazard waste regulations.
  • Conduct safety toolbox talks and reinforce PPE requirements to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Communicate daily with the Site Coordinator and Site Lead to report issues, discuss non-routine cleaning tasks, and support operational needs.
  • Attend Tier Meetings and production planning meetings to align cleaning activities with site operations.

 

Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of GMP experience in a pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated cleanroom environment.
  • Supervisory experience with demonstrated ability to manage and develop a team.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP, regulatory compliance, and contamination control.
  • Experience in handling, investigating, and resolving deviations related to cleaning activities.
  • Ability to review, revise, and implement SOPs related to cleaning procedures.
  • Experience with payroll processing, overtime tracking, and corrections.
  • Knowledge of audit and compliance requirements, including documentation and regulatory expectations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for reporting, training, and collaboration.
  • High attention to detail for reviewing documentation, cleaning records, and compliance logs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and relevant documentation systems.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions under pressure.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime as required.
