About The Role

Title: Lead Guard

Location: Surrey, KT16 0EE

Pay: £15.01

Shift: 4 on 4 off

 

Job Purpose:

  • To provide Ark Data Centres (Longcross) with an efficient, effective and professional security service.
  • To manage and lead a team of Security Officers in support of the Bidvest Noonan Security manned guarding contract at Longcross Park.

Responsibilities:

  • To support and assist the Site Security Supervisor in the day to day running and administration of the security function at Spring Park.
  • Deputise for the Site Security Supervisor as required.
  • Physically and theoretically train team members in support of the Ark Security Training Matrix.
  • Execute the main shift handover/takeover.
  • Command and control security and other related incidents until relieved.
  • Provide appraisal pen pictures for team personnel as directed by the Security Contract Manager.
  • Attend pre-planned Bidvest management meetings on a monthly basis.

 

Duties:

  • To restrict and control access to the establishment and operational buildings by enforcing the correct Ark access protocols.
  • To validate visitor identification and to be responsible for the allocation and receipt of keys and passes.
  • To be proficient in the use of the on-site computer based CCTV, Access Control and Visitor Management Systems.
  • Process and issue client/visitor/contractors with biometric and non-biometric passes in accordance with Ark site security protocols.
  • To monitor security and fire systems and to investigate and respond to alarm activations.
  • To assist in implementing emergency action plans and assist with building evacuations.
  • To regularly and frequently patrol the site.
  • To respond immediately to any calls for assistance.
  • To identify hazards, potential hazards and other issues relating to security/health and safety, taking immediate remedial action if required before reporting accordingly.
  • To secure and unlock buildings as directed.
  • To build professional working relations with clients, permanent staff, visitors and on-site contractors.
  • To accept and maintain an approved qualification as first aider and Fire Marshal.
  • To use sound judgement and good interpersonal skills when dealing with members of the public and on-site personnel.
  • To support, promote and protect the business needs of the client.
  • To participate in other duties commensurate to the role of Security Officer.
  • To conform to establishment Assignment Instructions & Risk Assessments.
  • To conform to client processes and protocols.
  • To maintain your in-date SIA qualification.
  • To maintain your in-date Security Clearance status.
  • To participate in other duties commensurate to the role.

 

Ideally the candidate will:

  • Have had previous experience in the security industry.
  • Have had previous supervisory experience within the manned guarding sector.
  • Be physically fit in order to handle weight, equipment, people and patrol effectively by foot and bicycle.
  • Have a calm personality and be capable of controlling difficult situations.
  • Be proactive, hardworking and professional by nature.
  • Be flexible to meet the needs of the role; including short notice shift changes.
  • Be able to work independently, but also as a member of a team.
  • Be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
