Waste operative

Primary duties will be Landside/Airside collection of waste keeping to a schedule, keeping areas tidy, and during quiet times to help deliver in the manual segregation of waste into allocated waste streams and affectively process in preparation for transferring to third parties in agreed containment. To ensure that the Mobile Segregation Unit (MSU) always runs in a safe and compliant manner as articulated within the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) manual at all times.

Key Responsibilities  

• Working 12 hour shifts processing plastic and paper waste
• Conduct the segregation of waste into its recyclable waste in line with the SOP manual and training received
• Use the auto and manual baler systems for all processing / output  for all waste produced
• Clean, work station and areas of the waste yard
• Safety of yourself and work colleagues.

• Responsible for maintaining high levels of Health & Safety in the workplace
• Maintain good communication with site management
• Work efficiently by yourself, as well as part of a team.

• Ensuring effective hand over between shifts and the sharing of all relevant information  
• Operational reporting at the end of each shift
• Maintain a clean working environment 
• Completion of mandatory safety and security inspections, as directed

• Self motivation.
• Forklift truck experience essential.
• Have the ability to escalate of any near misses, incidents or accidents to the Supervisor / Management team?
• Flexible work ethic.
• Desire to succeed.
