About The Role

Location: The Science Museum, Exhibition Road, SW7 2DD

Hours: Monday to Friday 7am - 6pm 1 hour break un paid. 
 
Pay rate: £14.10
 

 

Job Description

Purpose: To work to and supervise the standards of work, ensuring duties are effectively carried out and exceed client expectations.

Reporting to: Service Delivery Managers

Direct Reports Porters & Cleaning Operatives

 

Role and Responsibilities:

• To supervise the portering operations from 7am to 6pm, Monday to Friday and at other times

as may be requested by and agreed with management.

• To supervise the site operations from 7am to 6pm.

• To ensure that tasks on the “Daily Task Schedule” are completed in a timely manner.

• To respond to all radio calls for portering requests between 7am and 6pm and action all such

requests.

• To liaise with and assist the day supervisor on a daily basis when not carrying out portering du-

ties.

• To take an audit of the portering assets every Friday to be recorded in portering assets register.

• To provide handover reports at the end of every shift for Management

• To manage and maintain portering equipment to high standards.

• To manage and maintain cleaning equipment and materials to high standards.

• To prioritise health and safety at all levels.

• To assist with the training and induction of new cleaning and portering operatives as may be directed by senior management. • To endorse new Company initiatives and ensure they are implemented on site. • To provide feedback to the Cleaning Team in relation to their performance and service levels. • To conduct first line investigations as needed for people processes. • To ensure the smooth delivery of exceptional portering and cleaning services. • To comply with the Company accident reporting procedure and assist promptly and accurately in the completion of all relevant documentation. • To respond to emergency situations, ensuring minimal disruption to service delivery. • To build and maintain effective working relationships with key clients/Stakeholders. • To report any building faults to the Facilities team and apply signage as appropriate. • To escalate incidents or areas of concern to line manager. • Any other duties commensurate with the grade and as required by the nature of the role. Stakeholder Management: Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills and can quickly develop rapport with key stakeholders ü

Flexible/Adaptable to Change: Easily adapts to change with a can-do attitude, proactive approach 

Knowledge, Experience & Technical skills: Has at least 3 years’ experience as a working supervisor/Team Leader and intermediate level of Microsoft Office package – Word, Excel & Outlook 

Communication: Is a confident and effective communicator and able to clearly delegate tasks where needed. Has a full command of the English language and can induct and train operatives to a good standard. 

Performance Management: Effectively audits cleaning standards and ensures performance is managed fairly and consistently across the service, escalating where applicable. 

Time Management & Planning: Adequately plans tasks and works quickly and efficiently to a high standard to meet cleaning standards. 

Teamwork: Works collaboratively as part of a team to achieve objectives, hands on. 

Problem Solving: Is solution focussed and works to correct any issues that arise, adopt common sense approach 

Customer Service: Promotes a high level of customer service. Is professional and approachable at all time
