Healthcare Security Site Supervisor

Shift Pattern: 08:00–20:00, 4 days out of 7 Location: Healthcare / Hospital Environment

1. Shift Structure

• 12‑hour shifts: 08:00–20:00

• 4 shifts per week, typically on a rolling rota

• Includes weekends and bank holidays as required

• Expected to provide flexibility to cover absences, emergencies, or operational needs

• May involve day-to-day coordination with night supervisors or on‑call managers

2. Role Purpose

To oversee the delivery of a safe, secure, and supportive environment within a healthcare facility by supervising security officers, ensuring compliance with policies, and maintaining high standards of patient‑focused service.

3. Key Responsibilities

Operational Leadership

• Supervise daily operations of the security team across the site

• Conduct shift briefings, allocate duties, and ensure adequate staffing

• Monitor officer performance and provide coaching or corrective action

• Ensure all incidents, patrols, and activities are logged accurately

Safety & Security Duties

• Oversee access control, visitor management, and contractor sign‑in

• Respond to incidents including:

  • Patient or visitor disturbances

  • Missing persons

  • Security breaches

  • Fire alarms and emergency evacuations

• Support clinical teams with patient de‑escalation when appropriate

• Conduct regular site patrols and risk assessments

Compliance & Reporting

• Ensure compliance with hospital policies, GDPR, and security protocols

• Complete incident reports, daily occurrence logs, and supervisor summaries

• Liaise with hospital management, emergency services, and external partners

• Maintain audit-ready documentation for inspections

Team & Stakeholder Management

• Act as the primary on‑shift point of contact for hospital leadership

• Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new officers

• Promote a culture of professionalism, empathy, and patient‑centred service

• Handle escalations and resolve conflicts effectively

4. Required Skills & Competencies

• Strong leadership and team‑management abilities

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Ability to remain calm and decisive under pressure

• Experience in healthcare, security, or emergency response environments

• Knowledge of safeguarding, conflict management, and de‑escalation

• Competent in report writing and incident documentation

5. Qualifications (Typical)

• Valid security licence (e.g., PSA, SIA, or equivalent depending on region)

• First Aid / CPR certification

• Conflict Management or PMVA/MAPA training (healthcare‑specific)

• Previous supervisory experience preferred

6. Physical & Professional Requirements

• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods

• Capable of responding quickly to emergencies

• Professional appearance and conduct

• High level of integrity and confidentiality
