About The Role

Duty Supervisor - Out of hours

London
 
£16.24 per hour

54hrs average a week, 12hrs Monday – Sunday Nights & Saturday – Sundays Days

The out of hours Duty Supervisor role will be responsible for providing positive assistance to the Security Manager in controlling the Out of Hours (night & weekend) operational requirements of the contract in line with the customer and contractual expectations. Acting as the initial OOH management contact for all security personnel. Ensuring service delivery and prompt response to all incidents. The Duty Shift Supervisor will manage all Out of Hours activities and report to the Security Manager. The role requires the monitoring of the CCTV system, access control, issuing of radios and keys during out of hours operations.

The role will be in line with customer/contractual agreement and obligation, ensuring service delivery and prompt response to all incidents. Effective communication with SM and DSM needs to be maintained ensuring all incidents and reportable are escalated promptly.


Required Competencies

Experience in a similar environment where you have led and innovated the security delivery across an assignment. You will be able to demonstrate leadership, influencing and communication skills to deliver outcomes that meet operational requirements. You will have experience in change management and analytical skills, alongside demonstrable experience of leading & developing teams. Must have sound knowledge of the security industry, associated standards and protocol in the appropriate sector.

  • Must have sound technical knowledge of the sector.
  • Must have demonstrated ability to deliver service in this business sector and management level.
  • Must have good PC and organisational skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.)  Ability to produce reports when required.
  • Must have excellent communication and influencing skills – This role will require interaction at various levels within the company as well as with internal and external customers. 
  • Strong leadership skills – Proven ability to lead and motivate a team and achieve results.
  • Highly flexible with a demonstrated willingness to take on a responsible approach to any issues arising within their area.

  • Must have a good understanding of fire panels and emergency procedures, and operational knowledge of security equipment.

  • SIA Front Line licence in either security guarding or door supervisor.
  • SIA CCTV licenced required.
  • To be First Aid at Work certified (preferred) 
  • Display appropriate knowledge of regulations and working laws that govern the security and safety of staff, visitors, contractors, and colleagues and be able to demonstrate and offer workable theories and solutions should any such regulation/law be breached.

     

    Key Roles and Responsibilities


  • Report directly to the Security Manager.
  • Be fully conversant and comply with the Assignment Instructions and Health & Safety Risk assessments.
  • Be fully conversant with and comply with all other policies and procedures.
  • Ensure electronic Daily Occurrence Book e(DOB) is always accurately maintained.
  • Ensure that all logbooks (visitors register, key register, fire logbook e.g.) are correctly completed and up to date.
  • Ensure all personnel that work under your control are adequately trained on systems in use.
  • Will be responsible for maintaining the control room visitor logs as per GDPR requirements.
  • Carry out annual appraisals of your direct reports.
  • Carry out monthly welfare check meeting with your direct reports.
  • Operate and monitor all Control Room systems.
  • Report any system issues to the Security Manager.
  • Responsible to produce ID Passes.
  • Ensure Control Room is kept tidy.
  • Responsible for the administration of Lost & Found Property.
  • Carry out special administrational tasks/projects as issued by the Security Manager and or the client.
  • Ensure Weekly CCTV Camera Audits are carried out with random playback checks of CCTV recordings.
  • Ensure to action CCTV Footage requests via Email from the client who is the controller of the CCTV system.
  • Be familiar with the Control Room activities at all times.
  • Ensure all staff know and understand the fire evacuation policies and procedures.
  • Ensure all staff know and understand the fire evacuation roles and responsibilities.
  • Ensure that the access control system is always monitored.
  • Carry out daily verification checks to ensure all control room systems are fully operational and where they are not, initiate corrective action.
  • To be conversant with all life safety systems and assist in responding to all emergencies promptly.
  • Pass any telephone enquiries or messages to the relevant people or department.
  • Book on all members of the security team correctly at the start of each shift.
  • Physically check SIA licences & Company ID’s of all oncoming team members.
  • Supervise the on-duty Security Officers.
  • Conduct post visits to all Security positions at regular intervals throughout the shift where possible.
  • Report any issues or incidents to the Security Manager.
  • To manage the weekend and Out of Hours operation of all security staff.
  • Assist the Security Manager in ensuring manning is always at required levels, with regular shift patterns worked by trained and qualified staff.
  • Help raise the profile of security and fire prevention ensuring that customers are well informed always of procedures and processes.
  • Ensure that all incidents are managed and responded to in accordance with policies and procedures as appropriate to the position of Shift Supervisor.
  • Ensure that all incidents are managed as directed by the Security Manager and in accordance with policy and procedures.
  • Make enquiries and submit incidents reports.
  • Be aware of policies and procedures owned and changed from time to time by both the company and the client.
  • Ensure that all reasons for absenteeism are recorded and forwarded to the Security Manager.
  • Carry out any other reasonable managerial instructions.


    Training

  • Working alongside the DSM to ensure that all training requirements are carried out with teams on duty. All training carried out must be communicated to the DSM/SM

     

    Staff Management

  • To maintain and monitor the welfare of your shift and ensure they are motivated to achieve the best practices required on behalf of the client and Bidvest Noonan.
  • Complete all relevant paperwork when someone calls in sick “Notification of Sickness Form” should be completed; when the officer is fit to resume back to work a “Return to Work Interview Form” is to be completed with all employees who miss shifts through illness or unauthorised absence and Emailed to the Security Manager and HR.
  • Record any developmental issues with officers on file notes and Email them to the Security Manager. The Deputy Security Manager will ensure that any resulting comments or action are communicated to the officer, that they will be monitored.

     

    Chain of Command

  • Adhere to all reasonable instructions issued by the SM, DSM and or the client
  • Touch base daily with the SM, DSM to ensure all tasks and activities are carried out appropriately
  • Liaise closely with the SM, DSM to ensure that all incidents and issues are reported and recorded accordingly

     

    Operational Duties


  • Report & liaise daily with the Deputy Security Manager to ensure effective communication regarding all matters about the delivery and professional security service to the contract.
  • Liaise with the Deputy Security Manager on any problems which may occur throughout the shifts.
  • Liaise with the DSM to ensure complete coverage of site and manage any areas where responsibilities overlap.
  • Ensure that all equipment is managed and monitored and report all defective equipment to the Security Manager.
  • Ensure that all officers are compliant with SIA requirements.
  • Ensure that all security personnel have their SIA licence and Bidvest Noonan ID Cards.
  • Maintain a good level of morale and discipline within the team, taking into consideration officer's welfare.
  • Set high standards for others to follow.
  • Have a good knowledge of security procedures.
  • Understanding the computer systems within the Control Room
  • Understanding of the CCTV / Access Control system
  • Ensure that excellent telephone manner is always used.
  • Have the ability to think independently under pressure.
  • Understanding of computer-based software with regards to scheduling - (TimeGate)
